Summer is the perfect time to get outside and enjoy the weather while getting in some exercise. The days are long and filled with sunshine so there’s plenty of time to get some movement in the day and feel your best.

Let’s face it, it’s difficult to stay consistent with exercise.  Use the summer to add variety to stay motivated throughout the year.  Maybe cut back on gym time a bit.

Though we don’t recommend doing outdoor exercises when it’s the hottest, you can still exercise in the early morning or in the evening just after the sun sets.

Here are some of the best ways to get moving in the summer, get in the best shape, and enjoy the beautiful weather.

Go for a Walk or Run Outside

The summer weather is perfect for taking walks outside, whether in a nearby park, a forest, a hiking trail, or just around your block. An even better exercise is running or jogging, especially around 8 pm or early in the morning.

Go Swimming or Do Water Aerobics

During the summer season, swimming, whether in a pool, a lake, or the ocean, is the best way to cool down and get some exercise. You can also do water aerobics or play a water sport to burn even more calories. Better yet, make it a fun day out with friends or family and enjoy some water activities that’ll also help you burn calories.

Go for a Bike Ride

Going for a bike ride is the perfect summer outdoor workout — and you don’t need any special equipment. All you need is a good bike, the company of friends or family, and a nice bike trail or path.

Play Sports With Friends

If you want to get some exercise and still spend a fun day with your friends, why not challenge them to a sports match? Whether it’s football, basketball, volleyball, or table tennis, you’ll be sure to get an hour of quality physical fitness.

Take a Hike in the Mountains or a Park

Have a hiking trail or a park near your house? Working out in nature with fresh air, sunshine, and the chirping of birds is a great way to start your day.

Still Use Your Strength Equipment

It’s still important to strength train for all its benefits.  So, don’t forget to keep lifting.
